Meet Dr. Beth Granet
Clinical Psychologist
(She/Her)
My Story
Beth Granet, Psy.D. (she/her/hers), is a licensed clinical psychologist with more than ten years of experience providing mental health services. She has worked and trained in a variety of settings including state hospitals, residential treatment centers, maximum-security facilities, schools, and private practices. Dr. Granet has treated individuals across the lifespan providing individual, group, and couples’ therapy. She has a special interest in adolescents and adults with thought, mood, and personality disorders. She also enjoys working with clients from diverse backgrounds and an array of life experiences, including couples at varying stages in their relationships. Additionally, she strives to provide therapy to those struggling with a history of traumatic experiences, anxiety, depression, grief, family conflict, relationship issues, psychosis, or mood issues. Dr. Granet is experienced in treating people who are re-entering the community following inpatient treatment or incarceration. She also welcomes working with those from different backgrounds and identity areas including LGBTQIA+, gender diverse individuals, older adults, and people of all races, sexual orientations, religions, and ability levels.
Dr. Granet received her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Maryland in 2019. Prior to that, she earned her undergraduate degree from Rutgers University with concentrations in Psychology and Spanish. She completed an APA-accredited internship at Spring Grove Hospital Center located in the Baltimore area. Her professional background includes providing psychotherapy to teens and adults with serious mental illnesses as well as doing forensic work. Additionally, Dr. Granet is well-versed in conducting psychoeducational and neuropsychological assessments for children, adolescents, and adults to determine cognitive strengths or growth areas as well as to rule-out potential learning challenges or other mental health concerns.
Dr. Granet views therapy as an opportunity to help clients feel safe and understood while challenging thoughts or habits that might be unhelpful. She believes that therapy should be a nonjudgmental, educational, and empowering experience where one can share their life experiences and worldviews to learn about themselves in an authentic way. Although she tailors her treatment to meet the goals and needs of each person, she provides a warm environment and implements a combination of evidence-based techniques in an identity-affirming space. These include cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavior, and interpersonal process therapy approaches. Using these perspectives helps individuals focus on learning more about their patterns and identifying the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Dr. Granet can also teach useful skills to improve coping strategies and emotionally manage challenging situations. Dr. Granet feels that therapy is an ongoing collaborative process where she can help clients discuss what is working and how to keep moving towards achieving their personal goals.
Dr. Granet is a member of the American Psychological Association as well as the New Jersey Psychological Association.
