My Story
Marc Gironda, PsyD, is Chief Psychologist at the Bartky HealthCare Center. He is a clinical and school psychologist specializing in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, young adults, and their families. Dr. Gironda has been recognized as a “Top Kids’ Doc” by NJ Family magazine.

Dr. Gironda makes use of evidence-based practices for a range of difficulties including mood and anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trichotillomania, ADHD, behavior disorders, learning disabilities, and adjustment problems.

Dr. Gironda's therapeutic approach with children utilizes both directive and non-directive play therapy. In addition, Dr. Gironda believes strongly in the role that parents play in their children's lives and therefore encourages parent participation in the therapy process. He uses techniques that allow parents understanding of what their children are learning in therapy and how to apply effective strategies for change at home and school. Dr. Gironda also provides filial therapy, which encourages collaborative play between parents and children.

Dr. Gironda's approach to psychotherapy with adolescents and adults includes cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and supportive techniques. He also practices family therapy.

Dr. Gironda has a special interest in working with individuals with developmental disabilities and autism. He works with the families of such individuals as well to help with advocacy and independence.
In addition to providing psychotherapy, Dr. Gironda has expertise in cognitive, educational, and personality testing, and specializes in psychodiagnostic assessment. He frequently consults with parents, schools, attorneys, and other professionals regarding diagnosis and treatment strategies.

Dr. Gironda earned his BA in music and psychology (honors) from Colgate University. He then earned an MSEd and PsyD from Pace University in school and clinical child psychology. Dr. Gironda interned at Hackensack University Medical Center and Morristown Memorial Hospital, where he developed experience with forensic psychology (related to abuse and neglect), outpatient and inpatient clinical treatment of children, adolescents, and adults, and psychological assessment. Dr. Gironda has treated the severely mentally ill at Newbridge and at the partial hospital program (Quest) at Hackensack University Medical Center. As a school psychologist Dr. Gironda was a member of district child study teams, playing a vital role in school assessment and interventions, including diagnosis of learning disabilities, improving school climate, assisting staff and students following traumas, and suicide prevention.
Dr. Gironda is a frequent speaker at events in the community and for other professionals. He speaks on diverse topics including anxiety, depression, learning disabilities, ADHD, and child development.

Dr. Gironda is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Psychological Association and the New Jersey Psychological Association. He is past-president of the Morris County Psychological Association and the Chair on Continuing Education of the New Jersey Psychology Association.
